NAGPRA Review Committee What Is This?

What They Do

The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Review Committee is an advisory committee established (Pursuant to 25 USC 3006)to monitor and review the implementation of the inventory and identification process and repatriation activities under the Inventory, Summary and Repatriation sections (25 USC 3003 - 3005) of the NAGPRA.

The Review Committee members are appointed by the Secretary of the Interior from nominations by a variety of stakeholders involved in NAGPRA. The National NAGPRA program provides staff support to the Review Committee. They also mitigate disputes over repatriation issues.
